The Unity Fund is a shared model that is a hybrid of traditional fundraising and a unified, team-approach to fundraising for staff support.

The traditional model of staff fundraising is used by many ministries (including ICYA), and often asked front-line staff to fundraise a majority of their salary. This system has a positive effect as it invites many people to faithfully support an individual in their ministry work. However, it can also cause roadblocks for beginning work, including a long period of fundraising and appealing for donations. Plus, it is especially difficult for individuals who have little-to-no church community to make an appeal for donations.

This Unity Fund is recognizing the need to empower local leaders while leveraging the generosity of communities that are able to financially give. The efforts of all staff fundraising help by bridging multiple communities (thriving supporters/churches and inner city families and communities) together.

Our staff don’t always have the support networks behind them to raise enough salary support. With your help, they’ll always have a living wage and no one will have to say “I don’t have people around me who would be able to support me.” 

The North End is full of young leaders with passion and promise, ready to serve their community and grow their skills. This is why we hire them as staff! 

But these staff don’t always have the networks behind them to raise enough salary support. 

They have friends, loved ones, and mentors… but financial support is harder to raise. 

That means on top of focussing on their jobs, they’d have to worry about raising enough for a living wage. That just doesn’t work!

The Unity Fund pools all staff support and ensures each member is treated equally and on the same footing—regardless of their background. That way, everyone has a living wage and a chance to do their work without worry.
