Your gift of a new basketball will give kids in the inner city a safe place to hang out and shoot hoops. But more than that—being on the court will introduce them to a broader community of people—positive role models. Christ followers. People who help them envision a brighter future for themselves.
Our kids love hockey, but you know kids—they aren’t always the gentlest with equipment. Your gift of a new set of hockey sticks will help make sure that kids with a passion for hockey have the equipment they need to play and a safe place in which to do so.

This year we have added breakfast during devotions to our gift guide. Each Thursday morning all the Step Up crew members and leads meet together at ICYA to have breakfast, devotionals, and a short sermon and prayer time together. This is such a special time for Step Up to grow stronger with God.

A vital piece of our ministry is meeting with members of our community over coffee or lunch at restaurants in the North End. There, new connections are formed, and lasting relationships are fostered as we listen to stories of pain, but also stories of joy. Your gift will allow us to continue checking in with these friends and neighbours — to meet them where they are and offer love and care… while also supporting local businesses!
Your gift will allow us to continue checking in with North End teenagers—offering support, encouragement, and the Good News of Jesus when they don’t have anyone else to turn to.
For our youth, professional mental health support is vital–yet often far out of reach. Your gift can provide one free counselling session for a youth experiencing things like anxiety and depression.
Our Community Ministers regularly hand out bibles and other educational materials to connect with our friends and neighbours in the North End community. This Christmas, help us spread the hope and joy of Jesus’ birth by making it possible for us to hand out bibles to those without access to one.
Your gift will provide an emergency hamper filled with essentials for a family in the North End who is struggling. A family who needs a little extra help.
Newborn Bundle: Your gift of things like diapers, baby wipes and formula will go a long way for a North End family who has just welcomed a little one to the world!
Food Hamper: Filled with fresh and nutritious items like eggs, meat, vegetables and rice, your gift can feed a family of four for two weeks!
Hygiene Kit: Filled with essential toiletries like toilet paper, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant and shampoo.
Many of our community members don’t have access to reliable transportation, or money to take the bus. So, they rely on our Community Ministers to get them where they need to go. Our ministry is often most impactful in those 30 minute car rides — where two people have no option but to sit together and talk.
This Christmas, give the gift of stable, future-brightening employment. With your help, these young people will learn practical, real-world skills to help them confidently enter the workforce, make a living and invest in their futures.
For kids living in the inner city, unique events and trips don’t come along very often. Your gift can help us take them on special adventures like beach days, trips to the zoo, bowling, and more.
Many young adults we work with can't afford the safety gear that is required to start working. Your gift will provide high-quality equipment they need to get on the jobsite in the first place and keep them safe while they’re there.
Our employees need to prepare daily lunches for themselves. All of this costs money. Money many of the men and women in our community struggle to come up with on their own.
You can help the Bible come alive for our kids! With your gift, we’ll purchase items like props, costumes, and decorations to help kids visualize and better connect with the Bible’s magnificent stories.
Your gift will provide a good quality backpack for a child or teenager in the North End who can’t afford one.
Many kids in the North End weren’t able to afford new clothes in September. They started the new school year wearing things that are too small for them. Your gift will help send them back to school after the break with clothes that fit and make them feel good about themselves.
If an Engage Education staff member doesn’t pick them up, many of the kids we work with don’t go to school. Their cars are key to making sure these children get an education. But we don’t have vehicles for these staff to rent out. They use their own personal vehicles for this important work. Your gift this Christmas can help them keep up with the high cost of gas as they pick-up, and drop-off, students in the North End.
This Christmas, give the gift of adventure. Your gift can send a child from the North End to one week of Gem Lake Wilderness Camp—an adventure unlike any they’ve experienced. For one unforgettable week, they’re able to just...be a kid.
15-passenger vans are used to bring excited kids to Gem Lake Wilderness Camp throughout the year. The road trip is long—three hours! Your gift will help us cover the costs of taking youth to camp.
Did you know that the only way to get to Gem Lake in the winter is by taking a snowmobile over the frozen lake? Our campers love it — it’s like an adventure on top of an adventure! But the snowmobiles we own are old and require regular maintenance. Your gift can ensure they stay in tip top shape for the precious cargo they carry!
