Carissa Penner

Carissa was first introduced to ICYA some 20 odd years ago while attending Steinbach Bible College, during the Mission exposure experience in Winnipeg’s core areas. It obviously made an impact and after other experiences of learning from those on the margins and years of working in healthcare, Carissa sensed the call to join in on God’s work and vision within the North End community. She joined the Community Ministry team at ICYA in fall of 2022. She loves making meaningful connections and has experienced the way God heals through relationships. She is drawn to the relational, shepherding heart of Jesus and loves seeing people set free as they find and root their identity in Christ and his new life. She loves visiting with friends and family long after dinner is done, attempting hikes with her extroverted dog Ruby, and trying just one more pinterest gardening tip.
