Bringing Hope During COVID-19

Even through a global pandemic, Inner City Youth Alive is still striving to spread love in the North End of Winnipeg.

Toilet Paper Shop

A mother in the neighbourhood told us that she is getting her kids to cut up their clothes to use for toilet paper. We took action and ordered supplies where we could. Local corner stores were selling toilet paper for upwards of $4/roll. We began selling at cost of $0.75/ roll. In the end we broke even on this initiative.

Hygiene Hamper Pick-Ups

On Friday mornings we've invited families in need of toiletry supplies to stop by and pick-up from our take- out window.

Day Camps

Our team is leading Day Camps during the summer months for kids in the community. Activities include: group games, crafts, field trips

Handwritten Notes

For many kids and youth this time has been especially difficult as they’re isolated in a home where they experience neglect. Our team is writing notes and mailing them to kids who need to know that someone loves and cares for them.

Walking with Women Escaping Abusive Relationships

Our Community Ministers have been helping women who are escaping from relationships where they face physical and mental abuse.

Gem Lake Leaders Camp

We're sad that we can't host our regular overnight camps, but we've been given permission to do a two-week training camp for local community leaders. We're currently hosting 12 local leaders who either volunteer or work at ICYA to do work skills and camp training to better equip them for when our programs resume.

Meals to Trap Houses

Our team noticed that hampers from other organizations were not reaching many with severe needs. We are making meals for those trapped in addiction and living in trap houses.

Delivering Hampers

Our supporters have partnered with us in big ways! For $25 we’ve delivered hampers to over 450+ different homes since April 1.

Teaming up with True North Sports & Entertainment

We were joined by the TNSE crew to help create and deliver hampers to families in need. From all of us, THANK YOU!

Supporting Staff at Home

Those on our team living with vulnerable conditions were asked to work from home. We even got to celebrate a new baby boy, Asher Hicks, by our Story Studio Coordinator, Kristin Hicks.

Supporting Single Moms

Melvina has been creating care packages for single moms needing baby supplies.

Activity Packs

Our Drop-in Team is creating fun activity packs for kids stuck at home during COVID isolation.

Our Supporters Stepped Up

In big ways you were there for us! We received dozens of prayer requests and encouragement cards. Thank you for walking alongside us during these turbulent times.
